Default Mold on Vivarium Screen Lid

I cover my vivarium screen lid with cling wrap to keep in humidity, which works well in my hermit crab enclosure. The difference between the two enclosures is that I spray my vivarium directly, but use a humidifier for my hermit crabs. Now my vivarium has mold growing on the screen lid.

My viv is currently just plants, no frogs yet. Anyone know any cure for getting rid of the mold? And is it even harmful? What worries me is that water collects on the screen and gets mold in it, then drips down into my soil.

That looks more like rust from the screen. It will definitely add iron to your plants. They will never be so green.

Best option would be to replace the screen with plexi. Otherwise, I would put the cling wrap on the inside of the tank to keep the moisture off of the screen.

2nd the rust. swaping with plexi is a great idea, its cheap and easy to minipulate. but it does warp under the heat from your light source. i would go with glass if you have the means.

Oh duh, didn't realize if only wrote plexi lol I can attest that plexi doesn't warp under led lighting.

thats probably true, i don't have any experience with LED lighting. im sure LEDs are very low heat if any.. i have had it done to me before, but i was using t-12's and it was a pretty thin sheet of plexi.

i 3rd(?) the rust. Had this happen on the red lid at one point. Ended up replacing the screening with glass on the areas i wanted covered. Another option to the plastic wrap is a damp towel, but the better option is to put a more permanent fix in to lock in the humidity you need but still get the ventilation your future frogs may need.

This same thing happened in both my tree frog's ---exo enclosures ( both 36"H )
I really think it is bad screening. Mine got rusty.
I replaced most of the lids with glass.
The tanks sit side by side.
I made the 'new' screened areas jn the lids to sit side by side as well.
I have a dual /electric computer fan sitting on the lids over the screened areas ...if needed.

Have not needed it though as I an running as oscillating /standing/floor fan on a thermostat a the level of the front ventilation slots for the entire 'froggy' area.
My tanks ,except for one sit at the same height.
    This has been working nicely.

I say complain. BTW I recall a member saying that exo replaced a top for nothing?
It might be a good idea to have a spare around? Maybe send them those photos w/ an email?

Paul - I sent Repashy an email regarding storage and refrigeration of supplements. I got a response saying they were moving.
I can't find an email for RepCal? I'll have to call. No biggy, I just have to remember to do it.
