Thanks! I'm on my way home, and I think he/she has settled down now. I'll take another pic when I get back from work tomorrow. And I just found out that they threw three more toads on the interstate!!!!! People are so sick...

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the toad has red spots on his/her back.

Hello and welcome to FF! Your sources are mistaken since there are at least 3 toad species reported from Nebraska. Besides the Great Plain Toad; the Woodhouse's Toad and the Western Narrow-mouthed Toad live in there.

Anaxyrus woodhousii has a lighter longitudinal stripe in the middle of it's back, very prominent eye ridges, and a pointy nose. Pics posted do not show the stripe, so let's look at other two possibilities.

Gastrophryne olivacea (Western Narrow-mouthed Toad) has a very different frog like appearance, so back into the one left.

Anaxyrus cognatus (Great Plains Toad) has a very similar look to pics you posted. Also, they posses a characteristic bony projection on snout, which appears to be present on the first pic. This is probably what you got.

You can use this care article to provide a good home for your pet: Frog Forum - Toad Basics - Keeping ground-dwelling Toads. A care sheet for Bufo, Anaxyrus, Spea, Scaphiopus, Ollotis, Alytes, Pelobates. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
