Hey gang. Now that my American toad is getting larger, the ramp water bowl is just not deep enough for her any more. It is only 1.25" deep, because the ramp is the lowest side and only lets the water get that deep before overflowing.
I am now looking at other options, seen here:
#1 Amazon.com : Zoo Med Reptile Rock Corner Water Dish, Large - Assorted colors : Pet Dishes : Pet Supplies (large)
#2 HerpSupplies.com - Lagoon Soaker - CC Pet Products - Lagoon Soaker - CC Pet Products * Gorgeous, realistic, deep reservoir oa... (medium)
I don't think she really needs the ramp any more to get in and out, and I don't have to fill either bowl all the way to the top, either. I might put some stones or something near the edge to create my own ramp leading in and out.
Interested in hearing which bowl you would go with, or if there is another option I haven't considered (it has to fit in a 20 gallon long.) Thanks for your input.
Hey lovey girl if she's the one as your avatar.
I had the same issue when my two Bufos got too large for their bowl and they now
have a similar bowl as the zoo med, so I can have it in a corner. It is large enough
for them to have their whole body under water, but without it being so deep that
they can swim. And they can easily crawl in and out.
I think as long as you choose a bowl that allows your girl to properly soak, which
she can exit and enter easily, should she have an off day, and which isn't made out of
any material that can damage her, you're safe off
