I have recently come across this forum and am somewhat obsessed. I am interested in getting into the dart frog hobby. I am drawn to the darts due to the elaborate vivarium a posted on this site. I would like to try a build myself. I am very early in the research and planning stages and don't plan to even think about getting frogs until the spring. I would like to get the tank set up and start growing over the winter to make sure everything is set correctly ie: temps, humidity etc... I have a 55 gallon tank available for this process. It seems a bit narrow but I figure it makes up in length.
After looking around I am considering a small group of dendrobates auratus. Mainly because I read they do well in groups, are a fairly easy starter frog, are found near small streams (if like a water feature). I have read they are shy frogs though which I don't love... I'd like to see them
Would this be the right frog to aim for? Anyone have suggestions for me?
Im sure this is my first post/question of many...
Thanks in advance and keep the pics of the Viv builds coming.
