My frog communicates with me

Hi Guys:

Thought this may make you laugh: Our African Bullfrog (Believe now he is P. edulis)
tells me when he is hungry ! The other night I was tucking my son in, and I heard a light tapping behind me. I looked over my shoulder and it was "Kong" our African Bullfrog tapping his snout (lightly) on the glass of his terranium, looking directly at me.

I gave him some red wigglers, after eating his "snack" he waddled off to his favorite corner of the tank looking very content with himself. This happens every night now !

He is fed regularly, but I guess he likes to have a bedtime snack ! He now associates me with food, but I must admit to be surprised that a frog would be able to make the connection.

Personally, I'm not really surprised. My goldfish begs when he's hungry by swimming up to the top of the tank and making a racket by thrashing around. When I feed him he's happy again and swims elsewhere.

I've had a rat who would throw one of his loudest toys up on the ramp and let it roll down, he'd do it as many times as it took to get my attention when he wanted out to play with me. He'd even do it, then look towards me to see if it worked, then do it again if I just sat there.

Animals can be a lot more perceptive than we sometimes give them credit for.

my largest dumpy's tank is right across from the couch, and when he wakes up he HATES being confined in there, so he climbs up the glass and sliiiiiiides down to the bottom then climbs back up and does it all over again until i open the lid and he can sit on the edge of the tank or climbs onto my computer monitor to chill for a while.

Hmmm. whenever I go do waterchanges in my tank. My fancy ryukin goldfish come up to my hand and do t hat thing cats do. Like how the cats will come to your leg and put their body up your leg as a sign of affection. xD When I enter the room they always follow me about. Course I dont feed them everyday. I try to leave feedings for every 3rd day. I also have dash in with them. Shes playful, but doesnt like being picked up. ;] she just loves following you around. Then going up on your hand and "bask" in your hand. But will slide down if you try to take her out. She likes the water alot I guess. Then again SHE is a yearling. Love her to death.

My Pyxie, Gherkin, will bonk his head on the glass and then when I go up to him, he opens his mouth real wide, like a yawn. He has one bad eye, so if he doesn't see me right away, he repeats it several times in quick motion. Soon as he's fed, he soaks and gives me a look like "about time, lady"!
