    Default Rainforest

Iam thinking of making a tank that has like a pump and filter on the bottom which is filled with water and on top of that there would be racks of egg crates with stones glued to it so my point would be the pumps would intake water and flow it into some tube which would be glued to the back (there would be 3-4 tubes) which then would go to some other tube that would be a pvc pipe with tons of very small holes drilled into it very sparesly so the water flows out like rain. You know how when a fire alarm goes off? Well kinda like that. But this would be constant rain. That would never stop. neat thing is. That on the bottom I could have a water heater. So the tank can be set to a certain temperature without the need of "heat" lights. Due to the fact that I hate those infra-red lights that pretty much blind me. This would be a simple looking set up. On the bottom there would be nothing so the pewp, goes into filters. This would provide maximum aeriation to the water meaning the water would be with constant oxygen. All id have to do is glue something to each side of the tank so the rack sits perfectly in place and can be easily taken out. like I can glue some plastic to the sides and make the racks a smidge smaller for easy removal, and cleaning. Which I would be able to access the pumps and equipment easily. Or in the pvc pipe. I could add thick sponges for cleaning. I could add water hycanths or just duckweed so it eats the nitrates or nitrites. Whatever it is. :P I dont think I need carbon. I will add small bags of phosphate removal and ammonia removers. :P This set up would have either rocks on the racks that are light and glued to it. Or some other water resistant material. This would be made for frogs that dont care for digging. That may or may not climb. Def. not a toad set up. Lol. I could add live plants that thrive on constant moisture. SO the roots would be in the water and the plant itself on the rack. :P

Now my question is. Would this work? Any flaw to this? Also any species that would thrive in a set up like this?

Also, instead of filter. I can just use 3 pumps. And under the rack I can put a sheet of small mesh. Because the poop will fall into the mesh which would be clipped on to the tray. Which upon removal I can clean the mesh or use new mesh. I can use double mesh to make sure that poop stays in but water goes through in form of droplets. I can add drift wood to make it look natural too. Idk if this would be similar to a rainchamber but it would be nice. Especially for arboreal frogs because then you can have a tank that is say 2-4feet tall. OR you can get like a 20g turn it on its side! Or a 30 normal g. Then you get like 2feet of tallness. Itd be nicer if there was a 4foot tall tank. Like something similar to exo terra. But like the tank would be 3-4ft tall, 1ft wide, 1-2ft long. :P With that thing the exos have that lets you open it. SO the bottom would be plain water, and the sides would have plants instead of how I mentioned it. But still with the racks. To prevent anything to go bad. :P

COuld anyone please give suggestions or anything?

Also I was thinking id time the rain to 3-5hours a day. During night time or day time. Scattered rains.

WOuld this work for one of the following species:
    -Oriental/European fire bellies(maybe mixed?)
-Green Tree frog(The really small ones)
    -Red eyed tree frog
    -South american bird poop frog

No No No they will not be mixed. I was just wondering if it would work for any ONE of these species. Also I think I would add a dish for water in the tray. Or if its not necessary. Then yeah. i would add a dish for worms though. Like small wax, wrigglers, mealies.

I'm not sure I understand what you are doing. I pump my water features out through Fluval filters with stacks of different media depending on the setup.

    Okay.
1st: Imagine say a 40breeder. Or a tank that is say 3ft tall(imagine). Now the bottom is like a well. It has water down there. The frogs cannot just go down there because it has a "rack" made of something I heard they call in another forum "egg" crates. Its like, it has large dimond shaped holes which is like a rack used to hold things. Or whatever, it is used for many things. Its made of plastic and base color is white. Since the holes are TOO big, big enough the frogs can fall through.
2nd Imagine that egg crate had glued on either smooth aquarium rocks, or something like that. Right under the crate there would be a cloth mesh that should let the water through but not pewp. Or dead insects or whatever. Which still some ammonia will go through. This rack will be standing on pieces of plastic glued to the sides as to prevent it from going down. You know? To hold it in place. So you can remove it, but it cant go any lower.
3rd: under the rack there would be atleast 6-8inches deep of water, a pump like say a magdrive or something like that. so water would be going from this said reservouir through the tube.
4th: Water goes in pump, through the tube, into a long pvc pipe that would have 100s of small holes drilled into it. So the drops wouldnt be like heavy drops. But more like, like gentle rain. Like those habba misters. Which then the rain would be going down into the rocks.
5th: Water goes through the rocks(the rocks will be glued to leave small holes that frogs cant go in but water can), wash down the poop into the mesh. Then the water would be cleaned and into the reservoir it goes.
6th:In the reservouir, there would be a heater to keep the water warm. So said if a species wouldnt mind the rain system going "All" the time. Then I wouldnt need a heat lamp(I hate infrared lights). If it cant go off all the time I can just get a light the dark ones. So its not too bright. I would still have a light on top but not you know a extremely bright one.
7th:Water plants would go through some special made holes in the rack, so the roots fall into the water (water plants like hycanths eat nitrites or nitrates I forget), which is all that is needed. Carbon is unnecessary. all I need is a bare bottom with just pouros rocks. Then thatd be it. I can easily remove rack for cleaning.

I can put Coco fiber background. You know the one that is used for those hermit crab kits, or plants. But they come in sheets. I can make openings and put a type of food gel for plants, I can leave the roots inside the stalk comming outside. Course I would need sturdy plants. But yeah.
If its a climbing frog, I can try making a rack for them to have a bowl of worms on(in the higher level). if not id leave the worms in a small dish on bottom. Id have drift wood and stuff. The rain system would oxygenate the water. I would add some aquarium salt to make sure that the frogs get the essentials and maybe use "aloe vera" for replacing skin.

    Now is it understandable?
