Exclamation whites tree frog sore or sick? help!

Hello, I was recently on vacation and I had someone taking care of my two frogs, but when I came back I see my poor baby has what looks like a sore of some type, or like its skin is rotting, its freaking me out and I dont know what to do.. the person who was watching the frogs rearranged the tank, but ive never had a problem with the frogs injuring themselves.. ive been reading online and it says to put on something like neosporin with no pain relievers, but im not sure if this is a cut or something worse. I cant seem to find much about skin discoloration online.. here are some pics of whats happening and a picture of their house.

I am not sure about the marks, looks to be an injury, like he was trying to push his head through something. Someone else will have to pop in with treatment ideas, I do not have experience there.

How big is his tank? It could just be the angle of the photos, but it looks too small for a whites tree frog. There are also no branches in there for him to perch on. Here is a care sheet to help you - Frog Forum - White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea

My mom told me he was trying the push on the top of the cage and there was mesh from the screen hanging out so im nervous that might have hurt my frog. The tank is large its the angle of the picture, but no branches. I dont know the size id say 20 to 30 gallon Name: 1404919240673.jpg

Looking at the shape of the injury, the sores/cuts are triangular in shape.. is what he was pushing on triangular? I am no expert in treating tree frogs, but using Neosporin w/o pain reliever sounds like the way to go. You will want to address the enclosure though, if your Whites is injuring himself in an attempt to escape, there is definitely a problem. Your frog really does need foliage and branches to climb on. Also what is the temperature/humidity in the enclosure?

If you want to get the actual volume of the enclosure, measure the Length X Width X Height / 231 that will tell you how many US Gallons it holds.

What are the tank dimensions? What are your temps and humidity at? You need to get branches and leaves of some sort in there, make it like a tree.

Hopefully someone can pop in soon with some advice about the injury. Poor guy, it's hard to leave them in the care of someone else.

EDIT - I did not mean to copy all of Michael's questions, we posted at the same time. Have care using neosporin, as the injuries are really close to both the eyes and the nostrils.

It definitely looks like an injury of some sort. Neosporin with out pain killers is where I would start. If you don't see improvement in a few days, a vet trip may be in order. How is his behavior otherwise? Sluggish? Not eating ect?

It was wire sticking out of the mesh from the top of the enclosure, I ran my fingers around the edges and there were a couple stray pieces, I removed them and covered the areas where others could come loose. I also removed the rocks I had because they tend to hid in corners and there were sharp edges on the rocks. Ill try neosporin.. the temp is at 80 I believe, I dont have a humidity reader.. my tank is about 25 gallons, thanks for the equation !

I know I feel so bad it happened while I wasnt there... im nit sure about the humidity either.... :/ I have a mist/fog machine that I put on them occassionally...

Bill, glad tp hear its not a disease or something! I will put ome of that on her, she also has a spot on her eyelid, I am nervous to put neosporin there... her behavior is normal, just kind of skiddish when I picked her up, ive been gone for a month...

Use a cotton swab to apply the ointment very gently. Make sure you hold the frog firmly, but not tight enough to crush, obviously, because it will flinch (wouldn't you? Lol)

In the mean time, a quarantine tank (could be as simple as a Modified Tupperware tub) would be an excellent idea so you can assess the frog's health and make any modifications needed to it's enclosure.

You will need to fix tank and redo a decor too. I wont go over it, hope someone will advise on that.

Meanwhile, it does look like injury, not too bad. The best treatment option is flamazine, neosporin without painkillers might work, but it is antibiotic only, fights bacteria, flamazine is actually helping it heal and works as antibacterial agent too. Use it 2-3 times a day, applying thin layer to the wound with qtip. If not better in 5-7 days or getting worse you will need to go to the vet for systemic antibiotics.

A frog must be in hospital set up - wet papertowels changed daily, all 4 sides of the enclosure covered, plant of sorts, something to sit on, water dish, food, humidity, temps as usual, make sure you supplement food with multivitamins once a week.

Flamazine is silver sulfadiazine cream, it is used in human medicine for treating burns, it should be available over the counter or at vet clinics. I guess different rules apply to different countries/provinces/states. I think dr. Frye can ship it to anywhere in US, his contact info is in a sticky thread.
