    Default First Pacman Frog! :)

Hi, everyone! I just got my new Pacman frog (Boo) a couple of days ago and absolutely love him! My family is already commenting on how I treat him as if he were my child but anyways, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out a little more about him. I'm not even 100% sure he's a him! Can anyone tell by my photo whether or not Boo is a boy or girl? Also I know he's albino but what type of Pacman is he? Thanks!

Too early to tell sex, you will have to wait until it gets to almost 2in snout to vent length and look for nuptial pads above its thumbs.
Also males will croak. but both males and females will make noise.
Trust me you will know when it croaks LOL
also don't mistake the squeaks from its feet on the glass when it burrows into the substrate.

    Keep us posted.

    Wooooooo! So pretty! Congrats!

It is c. Cranwelli, and since it is albino you cant use any UVB or bright light, other then that care is the same Frog Forum - Pacman and Horned Frogs - Ceratophrys - Care and Breeding

when he is older look for nuptial pads, dark spot on the inside of his thumbs. You will also also notice hanging throat, mine is uses it as his pillow lol and obviously a call is give away too.

Thanks Lija! Right now I have a fluorescent light over the tank but I don't think it matters too much because he's under his log all day and only comes out at night after it's off. But what light should I use instead? I use the light so I can see when feeding him and the last thing I want is for him to get harmed by it. I want enough light for the plants I have in the tank as well though.

    They are awesome Brian
    Alex- you are welcome
you gotta take that light away. Imagine human with a very fair skin in a sun without sunscreen, albino frogs are not exactly to that extend but close, it will cause blindness soon enough. Best light for albino pacman is no light at all only ambient room light.

Congrats on your new Pacman Alex . Do not use any daylight with an albino! Can use Ceramic Heat Emitters (CHE) in a dimmer type dome or red incandescent bulbs to heat tank. It's very important the day temp. is 82F for babies and 82-84F for adults. That can drop a few degrees at night. Exposure to cold will cause permanent damage to your frog .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
