First time ever posting here.I was jogging in a forest in West Germany today, and came over a toad which "haunts" me still, so I thought I`d ask if any of you know what was wrong with it. I don`t know a lot about toads, so I can not tell the exact breed of this one. Brown, about the size of my fist. It was sitting on the jogging path, and did not move even when I stopped and looked at it really near (to see if it was dead. It moved it`s leg slightly when I nearly touched it, so it was still alive). When I looked at it`s face, I was shocked. It`s nostrils were all swollen up. As far as I have seen, toad`s nostrils are kind of "slits" on their faces, but this one`s were huge, perfectly round things which looked like they were full of something whiteish, greyish matter. Like it`s nose was filled up by this white stuff, so filled up that the nostrils had expanded to be completely round. This, and not reacting to weird human hanging about at all made me realize the poor thing was propably very sick... The image of the toad with it`s nose filled up by white stuff still haunts me, so as I said I would be really curious to know if any of you could be able to tell what was wrong with it.
I took a picture, but my wifi is really shaky right now, so I will try to upload it later.
eww and sad
