Alright guys, so I bought this Exo Terra Two-In-One Thermometer/Hygromometer about a week ago. I set it up in my vivarium and was getting accurate readings on both temps and humidity. I went on vacation and just got back last night, and the temperature reading is WAY off! I toyed with the sensor to see if the problem was in its placement, but it still keeps reading super high. I was worried, so I got out my Zoo Med Infrared thermometer and did a scan of the vivarium for the max temperature, and got something much more reasonable. Check it out.

Anyone have any idea how I can fix my Exo Terra Thermometer....?
I would just get a new one. Right now, my Nat Geo thermo/hygrometers are my favorite National Geographic™ Digital Reptile Thermometer & Hygrometer | Humidity & Temperature Controls | PetSmart I have not seen good reviews on them though, so I must have gotten lucky. I have used all living things therm/hygrometer and the exoterra ones, they do not seem to measure humidity correctly after a short time. Both of them would get stuck at 99% for days at a time, and considering I have ventilated tree frog vivs, I know that cannot be correct.

Yeah all digital Temp/Hydro therms seem to do this. I find that removing them from the tank for several days to let the sensors dry out will return them to working order. I have yet to find anything that works "Great" but for the cost the exo terras seem fine. I am all ears if someone has an end all be all solution
I have found better success hanging my sensors from the top of the tank down the middle. I make sure not to hit it while misting.

Yup !
It's terrible ...right
I have been spending $1.99 on glass aquarium thermometers.
I stick them everywhere. At that price they are affordable enough to put a few in each enclosure.
Just pull the suction cup off and move them around. Very accurate.

As for a decent hygrometer ???? I think it may be ......well ........experience
Amy - mine get stuck on 99% too.
I have to admit, I have removed mine. Such a terrible waste of $$$.

Like Lynn, I use glass thermometers and haven't used hygrometers in my tanks for a few years now. I can tell via my plants where my humidity lies.

I keep hitting my hygrometers when I mist. I think I'm going to spend this weekend kludging together a little raincape for the probe. I mean, I feel like it's pretty useless anyway, since it's not the ambient humidity but the moisture in the coir that my terrestrial frog really cares about, but I already bought it so I may as well use it.
As others have stated, those probes are sensitive to water and will give false readings if they get wet. Good thing is; damage is not permanent and once they dry out, it's all good again. I'm going with glass encased thermometers Lynn mentioned in vivariums.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I bought some glass thermometers yesterday and am in the process of phasing out the electronic probes. I have had to many false readings.
