I finally picked up my Whites Tree Frogs. They're living in a 25x18x25 enclosure. Still working on the terrarium layout, it's a bit bare at the moment. Anywho just saying wassup to the tree frog people. =)

Congratulations on your new frogs! They are so adorable! They will get fat and hungry soon. I love mine! Im working on getting a taller tank. I don't want them to vegetate in an 18x18x18 for their whole lives
! Yours are lucky to have such a big house. Hope you enjoy them as much as i enjoy mine!

They look great! I've been in between green tree frogs and white's. I think I'll go with white's, they are so attractive.
Great pics!

Thanks guys, I am enjoying keeping these frogs so far. Very cool animals. I really need to get some form of moonlight so I can see these guys active at night.
There any tricks to get these frogs eating nightcrawlers? I usually feed my african clawed frogs earthworms so I have a decent supply of them. I tried to feed my Whites an earthworm but they ignored it, no matter how much I wiggled it around. They destroy crickets of course but worms? Just not interested (which is sad since earthworms are >>>> crickets nutritionally speaking). Also crickets are the most annoying insect on planet earth and besides putting the 10g tank I keep my crickets in into the basement, I can't seem to find a place in my house to put them where they i cannot hear them lol..
I am thinking about starting a dubai roach colony, has to be better than crickets. I did some Googlin' but I can't seem to find any other insects to feed my Whites. I avoid mealworms, superworms, ect. like the plague since I really think those are for reptiles that can chew their food, not amphibians.
One last thing, which is probably nothing but I figure I 'd ask. After I fed my frogs today one of my frogs became quite active and was climbing on the glass, climbing the driftwood, then he went down to the substrate and he was pushing on the glass like he was trying to escape? He only did this for a minute or two. He then soaked in his water dish, climbed around a bit more and finally settled down inside the base of the snake plant in the enclosure, where I imagine he will be spending the rest of the day. It kind of reminded me how they were pushing up on the lid of the plastic container I brought him home in. Should I be alarmed at this? The tank is at 60% humidity (I keep the digital humidy gauge near the top of my tank) and the temperature was 24C at the time. I've been cleaning out droppings daily (they seem to poop on leaves or near the water bowl) so it's pretty clean in there, anyways, just thought it was odd.
Don't worry, they will be doing a lot of "odd" things. They are such characters!! Lol

Odd is an understatement lol. Every morning, my male makes it a point to knock over SOMETHING. A plant, a hanging plant, mister head, his tankmate. Anything! Just this morning the humidity was spot on. He dug up the snake plant in my tank. Didnt stay in the hole he had made, just dug it up and went on with his life.

looks like when they decide to get going, they go on little rampages around the terrarium eh?
Ok, no lie, i didn't see this until AFTER my last post. He dug a hole behind the log. My poor whites tree frog has himself confused with a pacman frog!

Are his temps and humidity good, Eli? I know here, with the ever changing weather (80 yesterday, 51 last night) it's been difficult to maintain things.

Mine would burrow occasionally, even with humidity @ 80% and a large water feature.
They also like to be interior designers, always moving the furniture around. And don't put any valuable plants in their tank. I made the mistake of putting a few rare crypts in their tank thinking they would be ok, they are in 4" of water. Yeah, BIG mistake! They killed them within a week lol

That's like my greys. They seem to destroy everything. I never really plan on a plant lasting very long with them. The only things I've been able to keep the entire 3 years since I built their viv has been a pothos and a lucky bamboo.

The humidity now in the tank is 60. I don't know what it was when he decided he wanted to be a landscaper when he grows up. Agnes has also knocked over quite a few plants. But now that the pothos has gone into the hydroball layer they are firmly planted. There is one that still hasn't taken though. Thats the one they like to knock over

Just so happens I am being given a free tank (possible two tanks, don't know the dimensions on the 2nd one), the dimensions are actually quite interesting.
My current enclosure is.. roughly 50 gallons, the dimensions are 25″ x 18″ x 25″, however on Thursday I am picking up a 35 gallon hexagon tank, it is 23 1/4″ x 20 3/16″ x 24 3/4″.
I plan on added a false bottom and doing spray foam backgrounds on both these tanks, so this question is probably moot. Which dimensions would be better for whites tree frogs do you guys think? Could the 35g house two frogs comfortably? I'm thinking they would be roughly equal, I guess once both tanks are complete I will decide where to put the whites, once both tanks are set up, I will probably get additional frogs.
I would leave them in the 50 and get a smaller species for the other tank. The 50 offers them more room as they grow, and they will. Lol

Ah okay, I was hoping to set up the 35 gallon as a temporary tank, then redo the 50 gallon (false bottom, water heater, filter ect) then move them back in to the 50g. You think the 35 hex would be an ok temporary home?
I'll have to do some research on what species will do well in the hex tank once everything is finalized.
