Hmm I don't have any of a "trap door" style, but here are the various ways I have setup access for the equipment in the false bottom
Made channel down the back wall big enough for the pump to fit through in case i needed to replace it.
Left side - Left a gap I could fit my hand through to get to the aquatic heater
Designed the back wall to allow 2 channels into the False bottom
I am doing a trap door in my 40B build. I will post it up here as soon as I have it done.

I was thinking about this build last night and wondering how things were coming along!
I ended up not doing the trap door on my 40B. The hole I drilled in the side of the tank is big enough for the aquatic heater to fit through lol.

Hey gentlemen and ladies who may be following along! I knew y'all wouldn't forget! So this week I was out of town with the hubby ( he was accepting an award from the company he works for) and we have our musician friend , justin james, in town this weekend staying with us. So, to be honest, not much of the construction got done. I did silicone my pvc supports in place and created an access tunnel and trap door to access the false bottom. I took the time to order ski the rest of the items I needed. I also had to sift through the gorgeous pieces of cork that I have from Maryland Cork. I also have been playing with the overall layout in my head still. Im stl getting stumped on the waterfall construction. Im learning that I need to just work on this viv the way I used to paint... start doing and adapt as I go along. Of course plan ahead for the big stuff, but ultimately mother nature is one hell of an artist and she turns errors into artwork everyday! <-- my new motto lol

Can't wait to see this build when its done! I might have to steal some of your ideas for my tank, lol. A Pandora tank would be awesome, and it would be really funny if you got a little plastic avatar and stuck in there, lol. I've always thought a prehistoric/jurassic park theme tank would be really cool. Lots of carnivorous plants, moss, and ferns. I just ordered a 13 watt jungle dawn LED, so I'm glad to hear they work great for you. Keep us updated
Nothing yet gentlemen. Just started back on it tonight. Had to do some work on QT tank for some frogs I'm getting this weekend. But will get cracking on the build with pics very very soon.
