sores on African clawed frog

Help!!

My ACF has a couple sores on him. Water levels are all on point. I'm not sure what's going on. I think it could be a bacterial infection but I'm not finding anything online.

He is currently in a 2 gallon water bowl. It looked like whatever he had could of spread to my cichlids so i separated him and I'm treating both individually. I'm using melafix and pimafix and then aquarium salt.

Should I put him back in my 50 gallon tank with my cichlids and treat everyone together? Does anyone know what he could have?

Along with the odd sores, every morning when I change his bowl, he has long white stringy stuff coming from his sore.

Please help.

What are the exact water parameters? Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, and water temps?

ACF need subtropical water temperatures.. around 68F to 72F. Housing ACF with Cichlids causes some major problems, for starters, their basic husbandry is vastly different.. also more importantly Cichlids are typically very aggressive. These may not be sores but secondary infection from being bitten/harassed from Cichlids. Even if the damage is not physical it could be a combination of being kept in improper conditions coupled with the stress of (semi)aggressive fish.

I'm using melafix and pimafix and then aquarium salt.

I would purchase a 10 gallon aquarium, which is about $13 (and a lid to prevent him from jumping out) and give this frog time to recover. This frog needs to be put in to a temporary "hospital" tank. Provide a dark, quiet environment, keep the water cool around 70F and do frequent water changes with treated dechlorinated tap water.

Do not return this frog to that aquarium, he will not survive with Cichlids, they are aggressive.

I would set up the hospital tank as I've instructed. I would then allow this frog to heal. Given proper conditions these frogs are very tough and do typically recover. Hopefully your frog will be okay, once he is better you may want to look in to providing a more suitable long term enclosure, a 20 gallon long is ideal for one frog.
