The hex will be fine as a temporary home I have grey tree frogs in my 35 gal hex. I have 4 of them in there but I wouldn't typically recommend more than 3 in that size tank.

Do you have a picture of your 35 hex set up? I am wondering how to set it up. I probably won't go too extravagant on it, may wind up just being a bare bones QT tank for me.
