    Wink Japenese Beetles!!

i just wanted to share a great food source for my toads... Japanese Beetles!! the toads love em. i usually catch them during the morning and afternoon. we have an abundance of those beetles (thousands) eating our fruit trees and bushes. if ur wondering how to catch them, what i do is get a small container and fill it up with about a 4th of a cup of plain water (de-chlorinated, etc.) depending on the size of the container. usually if you just hit the leaves the beetles are on the will fall into your container of water!! once they get wet, they can't fly for awhile, so your frogs/toads can eat them leisurely. Anyway, wanted to share this for any of you who have the beetles but didn't know amphibians could eat them. happy frogging!

I'd beware of feeding this to your frogs. They are very high in chitin, which could cause impaction. That hard shell will be difficult to digest. There are also a million pesticides on the market targeted specifically at this bug, I'd be concerned about whether this bug is free of toxins when it comes into to your tank. Also, the favorite foods of these bugs tend to be toxic to frogs and toads, the bug eats the plants, the frog eats the bugs, the frogs eat what the bugs ate. If you want free-wild caught, I'd go with worms and in a pesticide, fertilizer free area. Toads love them and they're very healthy for them.
