Welcome to the Forum. Lots of great people here-both willing to learn and to teach. The more the merrier, I say!
Honestly, I joined this site because I thought that my Whites Tree Frog, Kermit (he was named by my daughter) was sick. Came across this site on a google search and thank goodness I did.
I just spent 2 hours in the frogforum chat with 1beataway, she helped me confirm that I was doing just about everything right, and gave me a little advise about my tank needing dirt.
I did a lot of reserch on Kermy and was terrified that I was going to screw something up already. I plan on becoming a regular part on this site and would like to say that I have already got nothing but amazing things to say for the people on here. I was informed that it was a great place to get advise and that there are a ton of White's lovers out there.
Hope to have a chance to talk to more of you -
Cristen

Hi there Cristen, welcome to the forum.Im glad Kermit is doing well. How old is he? I love Whites Tree frogs. Can you add your location to your profile please as it will make it easier for members to give you information or offer help if needed.
Thanks.
Welcome to the forum Cristen.

Thanks for the welcome and I will update my profile so you know where I am. I will soon post a pict of Kermit but I am currently having camera issues.

Welcome to the forum.
Cristen, how is the new White's? Have you added anything to the setup?
1beataway -
Hi and again thank you thank you!!! I have been feeding him like crazy, I actually have another post in the forum about him. I thought he was looking kind of thin like I had told you, so I got some picts up and he has been gaining a little weight, but I think he still needs a little more. Went to the pet store today and got some froggy dirt for him, also picked up a couple dozen crickets, and 3 mealworms. He ate 4 crickets today and one meal worm, and is A LOT more active tonight then he was earlier in the week. So I think he is a bunch happier![]()
Fantastic! I'm so glad. Is your daughter enjoying him?
I was kind of nervous about how messy the soil would be so I just stashed some in a little cave type encloser that we have set up for him to hide in and my husband is going to track down some of the sphag..??.... moss for him to put on top of it, right now there is just a moistened paper towel. Im a bit of a spaz about extreme messes so I wanted to limit it to a minimum.
OMG... She absolutely Love - Love - Loves him to death. She asks me if she can hold him all the time. I was so worried about him before that I wouldn't let her hold him. So I let her hold him today for a couple of mins since he is eating so well and gaining weight! Then we shut off his light at about 730, and she sat in there in the dim light watching him jump across his tank until well past her bedtime (but I couldnt help it, I just had to let her).
Sounds like you have a budding batrachologist there.
Kurt - LOL It would not surprise me at all, she is just one of those kinds of kids. Yesterday, she came running in with some bugs for Kermit. I just about had a heart attack... told her that Kermit had to eat special bugs from the pet store, or he could get sick. Now that is going to have to be her job with moms supervision.
That is so awesome. I'm glad she's enjoying him. Did he start moving immediately when you shut off the lights? Mine seem to, even if I didn't shut them off exactly the same time every night.
You know...you'll just have to get another White's. It's sorta a rule, especially when you like them so much.![]()
I doesnt take him long to start moving around the last couple of nights, about 10 mins if that. He is still working on getting really healthy for us.
And I do want to get another frog alreadygetting addicted to frogs. Actually, I just told my husband that its kindof sad that I have spent more time on Frog Forum then in Face Book, since I joined. I checked on him this morning to turn on his light and he is hiding in his cave, we have it in one of the corners of the tank so that we can see him from the outside just in case he hides in there.
I'm frog addicted too. I started out with 2 fire bellies in a 10 gallon and now I have 5 Tree Frogs in 40 gallon.
