Hi everyone, I just noticed that my new albino red eyed tree frogs were awake. This was at one and they don't usually wake up until 9. I looked in their tank and one seems to have a prolapse. He has a large appetite and is always wanting food. They came seeming to be underfed so I give them quite a bit of food. I took the remaining crickets out and am unsure what to do as far as soaking. I read to do a honey soak. But how do I soak him? Won't he climb out of the liquid? Why would this happen?
When I had to soak one of my greys once (very dehydrated when I first got him,) I put him in a shallow dish (yogurt container with a lid) with a cover with holes poked in the top. Make sure you poke the holes from the inside though, if you poke them from the outside, it'll leave sharp edges around the holes that will damage your frog. He bumped up a few times trying to get out, but was weak from being so ill and eventually just sat in it.
Personally, I would get a frog with a suspected prolapse to the vet asap. Let them examine him and judge the severity and decide treatment from there. In what I've read, vet attention is necessary nearly every time.

Oh ok. I was confused about how you would do it but I actually went back to check on it and it was just pooping. There was poop where he was and he had moved and looked just fine. Apparently I've never seen one poop before.
Hi Bridgett! Frog poop is dark brown/black and will fall off. A prolapse is pink initially; but can turn reddish if inflamed and then black if necrotic. To prevent prolapse on tree frogs; do not feed insects larger than distance between the frogs eyes .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
