Well, I think Mr. Big might be dyingHe hasn't eaten for five days now and I can't find any poop. I know that he is creeping around his tank because he is getting a little dirt on him but the crickets are all still there. I'm just not quite sure what to do.
Can you post a few pics please?
Ok Paul. Hope this works. Woohoo! I figured it out!
Im so sorry. Can you get him to the vet?
Looks a little strange. I would take him to a vet, get him checked out.
There are not any herp vets anywhere near unfortunatley. I even asked a rep/herp seller 2 and 1/2 hours from here about vets and they didn't know of any in that much larger city. This really stinks! However if he does end up passing away I think I am going to have to try my hand at an easier frog. Maybe a white? After all I did just by a whole new set up. It would be a shame to see it go to waste![]()
Try contacting the Kansas Herpetological Society, maybe they can help. http://www.cnah.org/khs/
Don't know what town you live in but have you tried the vet clinics at Kansas State or herp dept. at Kansas University. Wichita and Newton have a large pet store and the owners might be able to help you. Finding herp and amphib vets is a big problem all across the U.S. Also, they won't be able to treat your frog but talk to someone who handles reptiles and amphibians at the nearest zoo and see where they can direct you.
Ya Manhattan and Lawrence are a good 4 hours from where I live. I have poked around and asked about places in Wichita which is the 2 1/2 hour drive. Man, Kansas can really stink sometimes when you need specialty stuff. The good news is that Mr. Big is still alive and I think he might have eaten a cricket cause he is looking a little bigger. I will just have to keep an eye out for a poo just to really make sure. I did catch him walking around last night so at least he's not too sick to move. Thank God! It's amazing how quickly these little pets get to your heart though. I've only had him for about 2 weeks now and it's been a stressful pleasure to have him with all his little quirks.
