Illinois is within their range as they extend well into Canada and as west as Manitoba. I know much of the emphasis in frog husbandry is aimed at more exotic species, but we have quite a few gems native to North America. You might check out some of your other local frogs- IL Herpetology Species List | Illinois Natural History Survey | Illinois.
