After reading another thread, I'm curious what you all do with your frogs while on vacation for more than a few days?
I go on a 1-week vacation once a year (twice last year!) and my greys do perfectly fine while I'm gone. I put a larger bowl of water in the tank with a submersible filter. That's not something I keep in their tank long term, just the week I'm going so I can be assured they have some clean water. I also feed them a bit extra in the week before I leave and make sure I have mealworms in the fridge so I can feed them immediately when I get home. Their light is on a timer switch so no worries there. Honestly, I'm so afraid of someone messing something up caring for them anyway. Like using the wrong water or something.
I am thinking I'm going to get 2 baby red eyes in the next couple of weeks, and I go on vacation next month. I know they aren't going to be able to hang out for a week without someone to care for them. I have never been able to find someone to care for my greys, so I know it's not a possibility. We are driving, so I'm thinking I may just bring them along in my large critter keeper. I will have to bring food along though, my experience with the spring peepers on vacation, I learned there were no pet stores in the area that carried food small enough!
Do you all manage to find sitters?

I have my neighbor to watch mine, and I hers when we go on vacation. I'm really blessed knowing I don't have to worry about my frogs, toads, snakes or cats when I'm not there. Plus, if I had to, there's a critter sitter who does amphibians & reptiles.

I don't use sitters because I rarely take vacations. But when I do, I have my youngest son care for them. If he can't, it's no biggie since my tanks pretty much run on cruise control

I would be care if you do bring them. But it might put a lot of stress on them since they would have been shipeed not that long ago which can be stressful for any animals. I would try to find someone who can petsit them for at least some of the time. I hope this helps!
We get a house sitter if we go away for a week, usually a relative who also needs a vacation from their family (we also have 6 cats who appreciate company). I make the frog care as simple as possible- mist the cages once a day and I'll have a small cricket filled tupperware container for each cage ready to be dumped in mid week. My frogs are all adults though, and can comfortably go much longer than a baby without food.
Given the timing, why not wait until after this vacation to get new babies?
I had actually decided to wait, and then I was talking about it with a girl that works at my local pet store. I've been in there regularly getting supplies, so she asked what I was getting and I told her my situation. She offered to take care of them as she has six luetino red eyes! I can either bring them to her or she will come here . So I made my order last night. They are also a little bigger than the babies I was going to get. Instead of 3/4" they are 1-1 1/4".

I have left my frogs at home while going on vacation for 3 - 4 days. I just over fed them and misted real heavy the day we left. I also added in more springtails to the Dart and Mantella tanks to give them more snacking opportunities. Everything worked out great, but like Bill My tanks are pretty good at taking care of themselves and the frogs can go for a week or so without substantial feeding and be ok. It is hard to leave them, but they will be fine
