    Default My frog died.

I woke up this morning and my frog was dead. I have no idea why. he had been looking healthy. not a strong eater but he did eat. When I picked him up this morning he seemed fairly slushy inside. I don't if that was due to bloating from what could have been kidney problems or postmortem. I am thinking back to see if there is something I could have missed, I guess some of his behavior had been a little strange the last week or so, but he was so new I couldn't really tell; still can't. The only thought I have is that I was mistaking his bloating for chubbiness and growth. I want to thank you all for helping me out with my questions with setting up my terrarium. I didn't have him long but I am pretty bummed about it.

Sorry to hear that. Hard to tell without a picture, but the slushiness could easily be due to all the muscles being relaxed. They don't have much skeletal support in their body, so I imagine they'd get pretty floppy without the muscles holding things together.

Sorry for your frog's death ! Hard to tell what caused it without a herp vet's necropsy. My recommendation is to throw away anything that can't be sterilized and set-up everything again. Once enclosure parameters are stable; then can purchase another frog. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Thank ya'll, Yes Ornate frog I do plan on getting a new one after seeing all the beautiful frogs on here and on pacman frogs USA on facebook I would be open to any of type. I will see what breeders are producing in the near future, and wait to see if I will be moving soon (waiting to hear about a job in Eugene). My frog always seemed stressed from the day I got him and it took a few weeks to get my environment dialed in, but thanks to Mentat and others the last few weeks I really felt that my enclosure was keyed in. I know this comes down to my inexperience as owner and lack of being able to read signs. Thanks for the advice Mentat I will do that. there is not much to his set up. Just a Large critter keeper a water bowl and a little hide spot I made from a solo cup.
