Hello all, first time frog owner here, I'm a little worried about this guy.
I recently received this frog from a student of mine, who was moving out and had to get rid of some animals. Now glancing at pictures of other White's Tree Frogs (what I believe to be this frog), the frog seems very underweight, bony even. He's got a spectacular appetite, and I've just been using the Dubia roaches that I use for feeding my Leopard Geko, gut loaded and dusted of course. The frog is active at night when he feels like it, and certainly doesn't strike me as lethargic, which I've read is a common symptom of underfeeding. So, is this an underweight frog that I should be worried about, are Dubia roaches appropriate diets for these frogs, and should I be concerned about him at this time?
Any help is greatly appreciated. He lives in a tall tank with a live plant and has a feeding dish that comes in and out, a Monsoon sprayer to keep the humidity right, and a heat lamp at night for when the temperatures get cold (otherwise the room stays at the right temp range for them). Please let me know if you need to know anything else to help him.
I was trying to find the edit button for the first post but I can't seem to locate it on the page, so apologies for the double post. Here's a shot I was able to take this morning that shows his back a little better.
Yes, it look skinny and small in comparison to whites..... But that is because he is not that, but to the best of my knowledge he is american green frog, hyla cinerea.he looks just fine, may be on a bit on a skinny side, i would suggest to do fecal exam, just to be on a safe side.
- edit, i would change a tank decor a bit so make it look like forest rather then just one planthe will feel more safe this way.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
