Default Baby Milk Frogs and cricket sizes

Hello, I've been lurking for a little while now, but I finally joined! Very new to frog keeping, but so far love it.

I have baby milk frogs that are about 2cm long and I've been feeding them 1-week old crickets. They seem to eat a lot of crickets in one sitting so I'm wondering when I can start getting them the 2-week old crickets instead? I don't want to buy food that's too big for them though.

I've had trouble finding pinhead crickets at pet stores near me, most only sell 2-week old ones as the smallest they have, which is why I'm wondering if I can start transitioning to a larger size food.

The "space between the eyes" rule of thumb is good, but in my experience amphibians have no trouble eating surprisingly larger prey. I'm not sure how big the crickets are at your store, but if they really are about two weeks old, they should be fine.

That said, if you're ordering crickets online in bulk, you could always continue buying one week old crickets, but keep them cool and feed off that shipment for the following few weeks. Unless your local pet store is awesome (or shipping to Canada sucks more than I'm aware), the prices should still be cheaper. I have a little toad slightly larger than your guy, and I still am flabbergasted how much he eats a day.

    Thanks!

I saw them eating the 2-week old crickets, the crickets are about 1cm long. When the crickets are a little bigger it has taken them some time to completely consume it, but they don't seem to be having any trouble. I watched him use his little hands to push the cricket into his mouth.

My last tadpole is going to be ready for the frog tank by next week so I'll have to buy pinheads for him anyway. But it's good to kinda know what size of cricket they can handle. I've honestly never ordered crickets online because I'm in Canada and not sure how well that would go with shipping but perhaps I should look into it.
