Default Hurt Nose: Whites Green Tree Frog (Litoria caerulea)

    Hi everyone,

I'm a relatively new carer for Steve, a Whites Green Tree Frog who I got from the FATS frog rescue group in Sydney, Australia.

Lately Steve has become a bit overzealous with his hopping and is routinely banging into the sides and the roof of his vivarium. It's a big vivarium, he is just an energetic little frog. We just discovered that Steve's nose looks hurt. When we look closely (and zoom in with our macro lens) it looks like he has a little scab.

Two questions: Is there any medicine we can put on his nose? Are there any ways to discourage him from jumping into the vivarium, or at least lessening the impact? The top of the viv is a soft wire mesh and the sides are glass.

Hello and welcome to FF ! You can use a non-analgesic version of mild anti-biotic like plain Neosporin or similar. Apply to wound with q-tip twice a day and you are good. What size is Steve (length from snout to vent) and what are enclosure dimensions? Can you provide a picture of enclosure? It could be frog is stressed and trying to escape .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Thanks Carlos, we just did our first Neosporin on the nose treatment. And we also measured him. He is about 7.5 cm from snout to vent. And here is his home (which is 60cm tall x 60cm long x 50cm deep):

Catherine, we've had Steve almost exactly two months--we got him at the last FATS meeting.
