I am interested in adopting a White's tree frog and have watched a few videos on setting up a vivarium, but what I have seen they are only using heat mats. What about one heat mat under the substrate and one behind the background? And, if the room where the vivarium is warm enough until winter comes, is it necessary for a heat lamp? If not, will a frog adjust from a heat lamp in a pet store to not having one?
Any replies would be helpful.
Thanks
The heat mat doesn't really change anything. I have one under the tank merely to evaporate excess water. When i turn it off, the temp doesn't change. I do however have a 50 watt night glo that i keep on 24 hours. As long as your temp is 80-85 degrees in the day and 70-75 at night then your good!
P.S: consider getting two whites. If you have a big enough tank that is. Its so cute when they sit
together!

Hi,
Thanks for the info. Does the 50 watt nightglo provide enough heat? What sizes would the frogs have to be? The same size? If one was smaller is there a possibility of that one being attacked or eaten?
Thanks!
The night glo provides just a little extra heat. U might want to go with the 75 watt if it is going to be in a cooler room. Yes, the same size. White's are absolute gluttons and will eat anything smaller than them.

Hi,
What if I had heat lamps -one for day and one for night? Could I use a night glo only for night? Or, How can I get the temp lower at night?
Thanks!
U could try getting one 75 watt for the day and one 50 watt for at night. This may make it too hot though. Not sure if Exo Terra makes a 25 watt but if they do consider a 50 watt during the day and a 25 watt at night. As long as the temp is 80-85 during the day and 70-75 at night you are good.
