Hello and welcome to FF! If expanding foam is pond safe; it will be OK with frogs. You can silicone the background in, or see if can locate Titebond III (waterproof when dry) in local market and use that instead of silicone.

Boiling or baking beach rocks or driftwood is fine. Would not collect anything from an area that has pollution or similar problems. You do not need to remove the bark with most frogs. Good luck !

Thanks for the reply! I won't be getting the tank now I understand for at least a week so I'm sure I'll plenty of time to gather supplies. I was also wondering about drainage for plants in a false background, shall I poke holes in the foam once it is dried for a bit of drainage or would the plants not need it? Or just put some gravel in the bottom of the pot?

Also I understand some people also build backgrounds out of clay and polystyrene? How can I find about doing this?
