Another thread with my issues... I know... I am sorry haha.
I bought the Exo-Terra heat mat, obviously it is not scorching to touch but that would probably be a bad thing... but I bought a Crystal Temperature strip (which you stick to the outside of the Vivarium glass), and it is only reading 25 Degrees Celsius. Now I assume this isn't correct as when I open the Vivarium glass it does feel a lot warmer than that inside? So I was if this mat is in fact a pile of **** or the thermometer is off and I should probably invest in a analogue gauge on the inside of the Viv instead?
Also is it worth getting a Habistat thermostat for helping the Vivarium cool over night? Also would people suggest I get rid of the Exo-Terra heat mat and get something else? or do you think it is actually working and should just buy a thermometer for inside the Viv?
You need to measure the air temperature inside the enclosure; not the glass temp which is what that stick on gauge is probably doing. Recommend place the probe of a digital thermometer, where frog spends most of the time, and get day/night readings from there.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I was thinking that would be the problem with the stick on. I have bought a thermometer to go on the inside of the Viv so hopefully will get better readings. No frogs just yet, want to get everything perfect before I introduce frogs to the Vivarium.
