I went to a pet store in the area to see what they had in stock and pricing and such. Came across a tank labeled "tricolors" and found this sign on the side.

To most LPSs animals are nothing but another product to sell. The animal might as well be aquarium tubing or a heat bulb. All of us think differently than that but they don't.

In all my years I think I came across one pet store that took care of the animals in the proper way. Some came close but never 100%. One pet store had owners who were neat freaks, OCD types with the animals but they didn't give the reptiles the proper type of UVB bulbs. When I asked they said the animals could go without it for a while and that they weren't going to be in the store very long before they were bought.

This is one big bugaboo with me. Unfortunately my method of resolving animal pet store mistreatment went out with the Inquisition. I do believe it was referred to as Auto-da-fe'...

I don't expect perfect husbandry in a pet store (would love to see it though!) They're only in a temporary home and are treated as such. I have a huge issue with misleading sales pitches though. I can imagine people thinking they're going to take them home, dump some kind of processed very much not alive food in the tank, never clean it, and expect them to thrive. If they do explain how to care for them properly, customers are going to see that the sign is a total lie.

Not to mention, the frogs in the tank the sign was on are a breeding trio and not for sale. Yet their tank didn't even come close to acceptable for long term care. You would think that if they're getting $$ from this trio, they'd actually put some thought and care into things before their breeding efforts fail.

No, they were asking $119 each and that tank were not for sale, they are their breeders. I have yet to master the art of fruit flies also, so not really looking for a frog that eats them for a lifetime yet lol
