I got this little guy on an impulse. Its been confirmed as a Asian Floating frog. I have read this care sheet Captive Care of the Asian Floating Frog
Now according to that sheet they need 16 sq inches each. I would like to go pick up two more from the store. However first I will be getting a proper terrarium. an 8x8x8 offers 64 sq inches of floor space. This would be a bit over the minimum and these terrariums do hold water.
would this be ok? they max at 2 inches. I may be able to get a 12x12x12 but with space limitations the less smaller terrarium the better.
If it doesn't look crowded if you put floating plants in then that size would be fine for a trio. They grow slowly outside of their native range anyways
It says they do not get over 1 1/2 inches anyway
I really wouldn't get anything smaller than 12x12x12.

Around 3 frogs would be comfortable in a ten gallon, Keep the water clean, and not too deep, floating plants such as amazon frogbit and duckweed work well to get nitrates out of the water, Always provide a few solid areas for the frogs to rest on (Logs and rocks) Food items can be flightless fruit flies, tiny earthworms and or hatchling crickets, care is pretty much like FBT. Good luck with your new frog![]()

I am leaning towards the 12x12 I need to look at one in store and see howw much whater they hold. The dimensions of a terrarium are easier to work with than tanks. I just wish they weren't so expensive.
sometimes pet stores will have old terrariums that they do not use anymore in the back, i sometimes buy old tanks from the pet store for a fair price.

Well I also have one other option I didnt think of. I have a 20 long peaceful community tank, Just platies, and corydoras, And a male betta but he is peaceful. And ramshorn snails ( but those are bred in there as feeders) Water is about 9-10 inches deep and I have a small turtle dock I could put in there as land. I have marimo in there, myrio, and Anubias. As well as silk plants that break the waters surface. Would this be an option?
Generally frogs are best kept to a species only terrarium. Some diseases and parasites can be transmitted from fish to frog, The fish may react differently to the frogs, Some people do put frogs and fish together but mixing species is usually discouraged, Caudata Culture Articles - Species Mixing Disasters

yes I know ... but thats not what I am askingI am basically asking if the water depth would be ok. these fish are established, from breeders not pet stores and have been in my home a very long time. yes they could be carrying something but I am not overly worried, My Betta was living with two ADF ( who will most likely also be moved to this tank) and everything was fine. My only concern is the frogs drowning.
Recommended depth is 3-6 inches. But they are good at floating so make sure that
1. There are no things under the water that he can get stuck under and drown
2. It might be a good idea to lower the water just a little bit. Maybe an inch
3. Make sure that he has a lot of land space. If you want, just put a bunch of turtle docks on the side of the tank
4. Give him places to hide both on land and in the water
5. I STRONGLY suggest not adding the ADFs. Mixing species as Ryan said is always ill-advised but two species from completely different continents will cause a nightmare.
Other than that the water depth is fine. They would be in a similar place in the wild anyway

Well I also have a 5 gallon so one of the two species is going in the 5 gallon ... however its a tank more suited to aquatics so the ADF were the first candidates.
My turtle dock is pretty big, They should be fine, and there is nothing to get trapped under, it had a turtle in it, But he was from a bad breeder and passed ... Its already drowning proof. I am running a HOB right now, but I have a couple in tank filters ... i will switch overthen I can bring the water as low as I would like.
A 5 gallon would be perfectMake sure the water depth is 3-6 inches as Eli mentioned. But if the ADFs are there, Make sure you are very careful if you do try to mix the two. The filters should not have any large gaps for the frogs to get stuck in.

I will try to get another 5 gallon ... or maybe a 10 gallon and divide it? Any thoughts? I just want everyone happy. I will use a sponge filter. These ADF have never been in with a filter,
