    Default ideal terrarium size

Hi. I was looking at terrariums this year for my tomato frogs. I have two large females and a male, as well as a growing baby one. The baby is in a smaller setup until he/she gets bigger.
When I was building my shelf for my frogs I was wanting a 30"L x 12"W x 12"H but none was available. So I got the 36"Lx 18"W exo terra. Now the cabinet is built and PetSmart is carrying National Geographic terrariums that are that size I wanted. (30"L x 12"W) I already built it to accommodate the exo terra 36"L size but which size would be best for the tomatoes (all four eventually) or does it matter?

    Thanks

In my experience, I have found that it doesnt matter at all. Choose whatever size you want.

    I didn't realise when I posted that the 30"W x 12"W is essentially the same size as my current 24" x 18x

They seem happy in what they are in but the water dish takes up to much room.

a 5 gallon is perfect for a small tomato frog, a pair can be in a ten gallon and four can be in a twenty gallon

This is a species dependent decision.
Well cared for = a big commitment.
Keeping tanks clean is a lot of work; not to mention the maintenance of light, temp, and humidity requirements.
All frog enclosures require the need to be fastidious about cleaning. It is very important to spot clean every day.
Problems result from housing frogs in an enclosure that is too small/over crowed.

This is a no brainier. ie: The smaller the tank the more the 'waste'.
The more the waste in too small an environment leaves it's inhabitants exposed to the contaminants that collect in the enclosure.

Many frogs can live a very long time in captivity if well cared for. Especially tomato frogs !!!!
Even though tomato frogs are a ,primarily ,terrestrial frog, 3 ft long by 18” deep will give them ample space.
Keep in mind the height difference after substrate is added.

You might have to modify the screen top to keep the humidity high enough ?

    Robbie , I think the 36 x 18 exo will be great ! For 2 , 3 or 4 . You will not be sorry
