Just wanted to share one of many reasons why my username is what it is

My 2nd favorite pet snake, Oligodon ancorus, that i named Genghis.

Having his momentary sunbath (they rarely if not never bask, so it was absolutely unnecessary lol)

Having his weekly favorite dish, raw egg yolks

In case your wondering, despite his small size and the thick calluses on your hand, they can inflict a very nasty bite due to their specialized teeth used to slit open eggshells

Yes it does. Only the yolks though. It regurgitates if it sucks in a lot of egg whites. Cholesterol conscious, maybe? Lol

Strange, the cholesterol is on the yolks ! Probably they have evolved a way to deal with it .

Haha! The wild-caught ones can definitely drink the egg white. The captivebred ones doesn't deal well with it. Beating it together sometimes yield a favorable result in feeding

Hey Niel, this is natural for the snake to regurgitate the egg shell afterwards. Many of the egg eating snakes have special vertebrae that crack the egg open and since they cannot digest the shell, they regurgitate it. But, hes your snake

The Oligodon genus doesn't swallow eggs whole then spit out the shells even the wild

Only the african genus Dasypeltis does that. Oligodons will forcibly open an egg with a slit via their teeth or their pointed tails. Oligodons also prefer reptile eggs particularly sea turtles and crocodile eggs to devour since reptile eggshells are not as hard as a bird egg whereas the Dasypeltis group eats almost exclusively, birds' eggs.

The Asian egg-eaters are more widespread than the African egg-eaters and are found in a variety of habitats from semi-arid, montane forests, sandy beaches and rainforests and are found in the Philippines, China, India and as far as Iraq and are waaay colorful
