I've had my white's treefrog for a little over a year now but i've never seen him like this. He has flesh colored spots all over on his back and a few on his back legs! Does anybody know what caused this and how i can treat it? The vets around here are not familiar with frogs. Please Help!!
Also, does anyone know if crickets can bite or gnaw on him? I thought that might be the cause for his spots, but i dont know.
I'm not sure about the spots but crickets can and will bite your frogs
Can you post some pictures?
I think you mean. "can and may".I have been feeding mine crickets for a year now and have not had one single cricket bite either my frog or me.
Even if a cricket did bite his frog it would probably only be 1 cricket and therefor 1 bite mark. Unless he is raising mutant hostile crickets that all team up to swarm the frog but... I think he would notice that.
*coughs* But in all seriousness pictures would be very helpful.
Here are some pictures of him. Sorry about the quality, my digital camera sucks.
That frog needs to see a vet. I am not 100% sure if those are cricket bites. If you need help finding a vet, maybe Josh of Josh's Frogs may know one in your area, since you're both in MI.
I have never seen this on whites before but I concur with kurt. Keep us posted hunny and good luck
I went with kurt's advice and contacted JoshsFrogs.com. From there they referred me to a vet in michigan. The vet diagnosed my buddy with a bacterial/fungal infection, and i should treat him with Silversulfadiazene( an antibiotic and antifungal) and Baytril (a Strong systemic antibiotic). Shortly after reading i went to my local vet and purchased said medications. Thanks to all for their input and opinions and i will keep you posted!![]()
oh that's great you got him diagnosed. those pics broke my heart! good luck!!
I am glad Josh came through for you. I will have to thank him next time I see him.
