The first pics I was going to guess cricket frog, the next ones leave me clueless though. I would let it go unless you're going to invest in an enclosure. What you have him in right now us no good. Without an affirmative id though, it's hard to know what he needs.
And you need proper food, fruit flies should do the trick at that size.

There are rehabilitation centers that release endangered species into the wild. Some may not adapt but a lot do well. Knowing the species is very important if you wanna keep it alive in captivity. How long have you had it?
The frogs best chance of survival would be to release it. The frog knows what it needs.
It's been a week.

It would still have a better chance in the wild, even after a week, than in captivity with incorrect care. It should definitely still know how to hunt right now.

The first place you should look is at a list of Georgia natives, since that's far more likely to be a local than some exotic pet that escaped or otherwise hitch hiked to your pool. After a quick look at Frogs and Toads of Georgia I'd guess it's an Eastern Narrowmouth Toad, Gastrophryne carolinensis since this seems to be the only thing that matches the spotted belly (note that the overall colour of this species can vary pretty dramatically). I just had a quick look though and I'm definitely not familiar with all of Georgia's frogs, so you might want to study your local frogs and toads more closely.
I'd also release it near where you found it. I'm guessing you don't keep frogs, so there's no chance it picked up some exotic frog diseases while in your care. If you want to take on a frog as a pet, it's best to be prepared with proper housing and food before you take it in.
edit- I've also moved this out of the Dart Frog forum and into the "General Discussion Forum & News".
best to just put it back in the wild. if its healthy, release![]()
I'd like to but I have nothing but pools around me. And I don't want it to die. It's such a nice looking toad/ frog

If you don't want it to die, you need to get a positive ID on it and spend the money to make a habitat it can survive in. You also need to make sure you have a ready food source for it at this size. Unfortunately, without an ID, you have no idea what kind of habitat it needs. I think Brian was correct on the narrow mouth toad guess. If so, it's ALWAYS going to take a small food source. So you will need to learn how to culture fruit flies or start ordering them, or have a way to get small crickets regularly. It only will grow to be about 2 inches at the most, more likely settling in to 1-1 1/2 inches. You will need a tank, with the correct substrate, coconut husk fiber usually works well. This species is nocturnal and will burrow during the day. You will need to have a water dish that he can get in and out of easily, and make sure it's not so deep that he will drown, enough to cover the belly is fine. You need a way to maintain temps in about the 70's and need to keep the humidity up, although I'm not sure of the exact level... Just doing a quick search on these shows that they don't make very good captive pets. If you start googling and reading, you'll find a lot more info about them.
Remember, just because he appears to be doing well now, doesn't mean he'll continue that way without the proper habitat and diet.

I plan on getting what it needs Lily. I have a huge tank waiting for me to build its new home with every detail of its outside life in it. His behavior is telling me he isn't aquatic. It likes to blurry itself in moss doesn't like water unless it has to. It's been eating ants so far and I'm trying to get that website that sells small anough live food for it. If you can help with this that would be cool. Thanks for the advice

I've already gotten a heater the reptisafe water treatment a watering hole and the new Zealand moss the pet store sells.

Here is a link that will take you to some food - Josh's Frogs. You can also call around and see if you have a local pet store in the area that cultures fruit flies, I have 2 right by me. Best idea would be to learn how to do it yourself.

Hello again. I bought the fruit flys we had talked about. How many do I feed at one time? I dont want to over feed it.
Sent from my HTC6600LVW using Tapatalk
They will eat ALOT of fruit flies. Id say 20-25 maybe. Hopefully an expert on darts which eat fruit flies too will chime in.
