Without a false bottom, you will have standing water on the vivarium which would turn your soil substrate into a bacteria breeding bog . Only way can see that working is in a set up with no soil, maybe a waterfall into a pond with large stones and aquatic plants housing FBTs for example .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

You can get one of those self contained waterfalls that exoterra or zoomed sells.

I've checked out those water falls, but i wanted one going through a planted viv.
I was wondering if i could use hydro-balls and layers or something to help drainage.

The risk would be (as others have said) is of you bogging out your soil and creating a horrid smelling mess. One way you could try (if you have the room). Would be to remove some soil and use a bowel or some sort of water tight container and place it down in the soil but use it to contain the water. Have you water fall feed from it and empty back into it.... Just an idea.

It can be done using leca as a drainage layer, but it makes it a lot more difficult, and pumps are prone to clogging using that method. Just make sure you have easy access to the pump.
