I noticed last night during feeding time that Atlas, my male grey tree frog, has a brown spot on his head. I have had 2 new lights on the tank since last week, the original lighting I had went kaput. I'm wondering if his head could have been burned by one of the new lights? What do I do if that's the case? Right now, I have NO lights on because I have no idea. I have been using an LED light - Amazon.com: KLTECH NEW 48 LED White Blue Light 3 Mode Fish Tank Aquarium Clip Lamp: Computers & Accessories and then when it got cold out for a few days, the temps in my tank were dropping so I put a 15 watt incandescent to warm them up in combo with the LED. The problem is, he perches much higher than my girls and was much closer to the incandescent than the rest of them. Originally I used the Reptisun 5.0 Mini Compact Fluorescent Lamp - 13w.
.
He seems to be plenty active, still chirping and eating, isn't acting like anything is wrong. He hasn't soaked at all except when I put him in the water dish for the pic, but he doesn't normally. I haven't moved him to the quarantine tank quite yet because his activity is still good.
He puffed himself out here because he was mad at me for sticking him in the water.
An old pic of the viv, basically the same with a minor change in a few plants, and now I bowl feed so there isn't vitamin dust everywhere.
1-size of enclosure - 35gal tall hex

14-a pic would be great ( including the frog ) any little cell phone pic is fine
15- how old is the frog - 1 yearish

It could be a burn but I wouldn't worry too much about it. It will clear up. 15w or 13w bulbs don't produce that much heat to burn them unless they touched the bulb itself. If you are concerned about it just move the canopy forwards or backwards away from where he is sleeping. I do that all the time with my red eyes if they decide to sleep on the walls at the back. If the mark gets worse put a blob of neosporin (without pain relief) on the area and it should clear up quickly.
Thanks Andaroo. I am not super concerned but it does bother me and I feel guilty for setting the light so close to a perch. I just hope that is all it is and it clears up fast. He called all night so obviously he's not too stressed over it. Will keep an eye on him and make sure it is healing though.

It's been three days and there has been no change in the color or size of the brown spot. It doesn't appear to be getting worse but neither does it appear to be healing. Is it time to try out some neosporin? Or give it more time?

No suggestions or input? Still looks the same tonight, still chirping, eating, pooping, and nice green color, but the brown spot is still there. Been googling and reading all day but am not having any luck figuring this out.
Pic is tonight.

neosporin is for cuts/scrapes and wounds. Anything that involves the breaking of the skin, which this isn't. Don't worry one of my white's snuck behind the background once and slept pushed up again a strong heat mat, he was slightly burned by it. It never made any wounds or bled or anything just a darker drier looking patch on the back. It went away on its own which I'm sure yours will too, probably once he has shed a few times. Stop worrying lol
The brown spot is definitely still there. I haven't seen him shed yet either since I noticed the spot a week ago but looks like he may have before I took that pic a few days ago. Last night all 3 girls shed after I fed them, but he did not. He also has not called in about 2 days, which is really unusual because the greys outside are calling constantly and that usually gets him all hyper. He did eat last night, 3 med crickets. Just keeping an eye on him still.
ETA -- And of all the beautiful real plants in my viv, that fake plant is his favorite. I don't get it!! LOL

How long did it take to heal Andaroo?
He is on 2 weeks and it is still pretty much exactly the same -
Still no change in behavior or eating habits. The rest of his skin looks perfectly healthy. I did send a pic to our vet asking if I should bring him in and got no response.

I have a hard time not worrying when something is off with one of my frogs. I will obsess over this and keep updating until it's gone lol
ETA: I just realized looking at the last few pics, he's crazy green lately! Up until a few months ago, he was always black/gray. Now I can't even see his markings like normal! I'm just happy this little boy is so healthy compared to when I got him. I think his rough start makes me worry for him a little more too.

Just thought I'd update. Seems to have healed up perfectly fine. Looks a little discolored in the picture but he's in the middle of changing from grey to green today after being stressed from changing the viv. So the gray spots are normal.
