bullfrog tadpole death?

Hey everyone, I once used to keep bullfrogs in a large pond in my lawn. Every summer I used to take a few of the tadpoles and put them in my aquariums. But 2 years ago, about 5 of the tad's tails started rotting away, their stomachs caved in, and they eventually died. I never learned why this happened and what this ailment was, and since I'm too lazy to look it up and have much more fun asking the frog-people (you guys ) if you know whats up.

There is no way to tell what happened with certainty after such a long time; since water testing would be required. Rotting tail's indicate high ammonia levels, a pathogen (bacterial if smooth or fungus if fuzzy) or a combo of both, sorry !

my guess is definitely bacterial, thing is, it only affected tadpoles because I had a variety of other native animals in the tanks (including fish) so it wasnt ammonia

sounds like a fungal infection; a bacterial infection would have just killed them promptly (sepsis). water quality control is key and minimizing stressors (they have finicky immune systems)
