Maasai (new GABF)

It's about time I made a post introducing this little bugger.

I picked up this lil feller at the local Maryland Reptile Show two weeks ago and he/she is growing like a weed! It's been a blast taking care of this guy so far, but I would be lost without this forum. So THANK YOU for everyone's advice and experience!
After much debate and uncertainty (I'm very anal about choosing pet names) I settled on the name "Maasai" (pronounced Ma-sigh). The Maasai are a tribe in Eastern Africa. I was fortunate to study them and spend time with them during college. Since their homeland overlaps with GABF's native range, and since it's such a beautiful name, I thought it would suit my little beast very well. Although.... I also randomly considered the name "Kevin" for the frog so it will sometimes be called Kevin... Haha.
Maasai a.k.a. Kevin has about tripled in size these last two weeks. He's on a daily feeding schedule, though I occasionally skip a day if I'm traveling. I've been dusting his meals with Calcium twice a week and multivitamin once a week. His staples are Canadian nightcrawlers from Walmart and crickets. He's also sampled red wigglers (not a fan) and mealworms. I am considering doing a pinkie soon (that's what the seller had been raising him on! ). I breed mice for our birds of prey at work so I have access to healthy pinkies. This would only be a treat.

Can anyone guess how old he was when I purchased him? I wish I had asked, but I forgot to. And about how long will it be before sexing is more accurate? I'm just saying "he", but it's just an arbitrary guess.
And out of curiosity: Do most of you feed in the enclosure or in a separate container? I've been doing a separate feeding container, so that I can easily clean his water dish while he's out and I don't worry about uneaten feeders stinking up the place.

Most GABFs can be sexed at around 4 in. length. My guess right now... male; although a photo of head from side can also help. It's hard to tell how old because many shops just feed enough food to keep them alive. I feed my frogs in their enclosure. Feeding outside is a matter of choice, some frogs do not mind it when started young. Others never take to it and get stressed out when moving them. Good luck !

Time for an update! Maasai is amazing. He (?) is growing like a weed and looks bigger every day. I still waver back and forth questioning the gender. I think male, but I welcome other's input. I did hear him croak twice a few weeks back, but I don't think that is solid proof of sex. I haven't measured, but he must be at least 4in SVL.
He can eat up to 7 Canadian nightcrawlers in one sitting. I usually feed him every other day, sometimes every day, sometimes every three days. Nightcrawlers are his staple, but I also buy crickets from time to time and he had his first superworms yesterday. He ate all 20 in the container!! (I cut their heads off first because I was paranoid after reading that they can bite him once swallowed.) I don't plan on doing superworms regularly, but the pet store was out of crickets and crawlers and I had a hungry frog to feed! He had a pinky last month and I'm expecting a new litter of mice in a week or so he will get that again. I really enjoy varying his diet and finding things he likes. I plan to go to the next reptile show to pick up some kind of treat (maybe horned worms).
I'm starting to look at larger housing options as I would like to either do a half water tank or get a really large soaking bowl. A filter would be nice too. Would a 20gal long tank be suitable for a full grown GABF?

Prettyyyyyyyy! And yep it is male and if you hear it croaks that is for sure indicator it is a male too, but he looks like a monster already in that middle picture.

Edit - Wait.... That pic in a first post where the guy is to tiny, was it actually taken 6 weeks ago? Monster lol

Hahaha yes! I've had him just over 6 weeks. Crazy right? I didn't realize they grew so quickly. I'm very excited to have a male. I hope he gets enormous!

They grow extremely fast and have an appetite to match!
