I have a set up for a Fantasy Frog that is currently on order. It's a 20 Gal. standard, set up like a makeshift Vivarium! Inside I have 2 small Phaleanopsis Orchids, and another known as Bulbophyllum Fascinator. They are mounted on slabs of cork, and one on a large piece of Mopani Wood. My question is regarding fertilization of these orchids! They are secured by fishing line, and have a layer of long fiber sphagnum moss covering the roots, now if I used a normal 20-20-20 water soluble fertilizer and allowed them to drip out, would this affect the frog? The Sphagnum holds water very well, and the terrarium sits at about 90% RH which in turns causes a lot of water retention rather than dripping. I only fertilize once a week, and the rest of the time I use distilled water from a spray bottle.
Any thoughts?
A lot of dart frog keepers swear by Dyna Gro fertilizer in their frog tanks, Black Jungle also has recommended it to be safe with frogs. Otherwise I think some of the fish tank plant fertilizers would be safe since they are made to be fish and aquatic life safe.
i use Florin Multi aquatic plant fertilizer. my plants love it, including my orchids, and have had no ill affects to my frogs.
