I just went to peak in on my new babies, and my baby lutino was just found on his back on the bottom of the enclosure. He/she is still alive, I very gently picked him up and I placed him on a pothos leaf where he appears to be just breathing. Why would this happen? I'm sure he's stressed by the big move, but anything I can do for him without stressing him more? Lights in enclosure are off, and just the light from outside is lighting the room he's in... humidity and temp good. Thank you!!!

I read your previous / other post.
I bet he is very stressed.
I think you are right to keep him alone and really quiet.
I would not put any medicine on him, as touching him will just stress him more.
A couple crickets in the bowl can't hurt.
Cover 3 sides of the tank with a towel.

Hi lynn, *thank you* He arrived/delivered to my office at 11:26 am, NM time ( 1:26pm NYC time). He? was in the tubs he arrived in until 4pm today and then into the quarantine tank. He is in a 12x12x18 quarantine tank with a regular red-eye 1/2 his size who arrived at same time, they are in the same tank. He is less than a quarter length, v-s. He is still alive, wide awake on a pothos leaf. He seems like he is panicking, I am only *very quietly* peeking in at him. Lights off in tank and room, very quiet room. The humidity is 75 degrees, temp 75 f. I have decided to let him be? Is that ok?? I do not want to stress more. Also, occurred to me, I live at 7250 elevation... Could also be altitude sickness? I've lost 2 frogs in the last 2 years.. so I'm quite sad about this, I feel incredibly guilty and selfish to have bought him.... towel on three sides to provide some security. Thank you

Stick with your plan.
You are doing great.
The travel is awful on them.
I'm sure he is very stressed.
The higher altitude will make keeping the humidity up a little more of a challenge.
Keeping live plants will help.
You could dribble a little de-chlorinated water on him. Just to be sure he is well hydrated.
Dribble it on his back and let it collect/puddle under his body.
Dribbling water on works better than touching and moving him.
Keep us posted

Hi Lindsey,
It does sound like stress, though its hard to say for sure. Does he look healthy otherwise?
You are doing the right thing. Let him settle in and get used to the tank. Quietly peek in to make sure he's upright.
I'm not sure if the altitude change will harm him. I'm sure they can feel it, but I think they should be able to slowly adjust?
I hope he pulls through for you! I'll hop on the forum tomorrow after work. It might be late.
Big hugs! Don't feel guilty for wanting to have the animals you love. We all do, whether it be cats, dogs, or frogs. You're a good caregiver!

Keep him nice and quiet tonight, provide some small crickets in a bowl just in case he decides to eat. Keep only smooth objects in the tank just in case he flips again.

He is skinny... seems very skinny. And small blue/grey scratches on back.. I'll maintain environment, and let you know in the morning how he is. I'll place small crickets in case he or the tank mate want to eat. thank you. xoxo

Are the scratches only on the surface? You can drop a few SSD drops on if you can do it without touching or stressing him. I likely would if he were mine. They may be from bouncing around in the box.

Yes, upon further inspection (from afar) the scratches apear to be fresh. Funny the other frog is ok. When he falls asleep I'll apply some ssd cream. Really feeling like the scratches are less of an emergency than the stres he's underright now. So well see.. Thanks again

I agree. I'm still so sorry you have to worry. Give him time, cross your fingers. I'll pray for the little one tonight also. They're both beautiful! Hugs!

Good Morning Lindsey,
I'm hoping the night went ok.
Re the photo in post #12 ( he is thin )
No rationing this little fellas crickets
I would feed him daily! He should be fed daily anyway because he is still so young.
I feed my adults daily! What they don't want ......they don't eat.
Who did you purchase him from?
If it was retail ( do you know who the actual breeder was ) ?
I really can's see scratches.
Remember their skin is very transparent , so things look different on the yellow vs green
I agree:
rehydration ( keep the paper towel really wet w dechlor water )
....food w/ calcium and vits....
.......lots of peace and quiet
You might use the bowl AND let a few roam the bottom as I 'm sure you know they have to learn the bowl feeding.
It's 5:45 am ....I'll check back before I go to work ( 7:30 - 4 )
I may be able to check via my phone at work today but I am unable to use the internet for person stuff
Heath.......might be off today ??? I'm not sure. I'm sure she will check in as well.
Try to keep the daytime temp closer to 78-80 max

Hi,
Yes, I am here also. I got called off work this morning but will likely have to go in at 11:00.
Lynn's got you covered on feeding and hydration. If he/she doesn't start to eat in the next few days the diluted pedi drops will be extra important. I'm hoping he'll eat soon for you.
How is he looking this morning?
https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203589094112277&id=1363241107&set =a.1434844115446.2055312.1363241107&source=11&ref= bookmark
I've been in this situation plenty of times with red eyes. I have had shipments of them a few times and it always stresses them out to the point were they won't eat or even wake up. The best thing to do is nothing. Cover ALL sides of the tank even the front you checking on him alot will just stress him out further. If he cant see you he will calm down but it takes time. His light should be very dim, bright lights will add to the stress, don't even use a light if the room is bright enough. Keep him in a quiet place. Don't put any crickets in there just yet they will stress him out too he probably won't even wake up right now at night so there's no point he won't eat them and they could bite him. The scratches will be from the shipping one of mine was really bad they pushed holes into the container from the outside in so the airholes were sharp inside and cut all his back he healed quickly without any help. It took 2 weeks before he did anything and i was constantly checking getting up in the middle of the night and he would never wake up sometimes he did just to soak in his dish but he would go right back to sleep. So don't try feeding until he has woken up within a couple of hours of the lights going out. Stop misting him too that will stress him too. People worry way too much about humidity with these guys. I get very dry winters here so my tanks will naturally fall to 30% and mine are fine they will soak and retain water so they never dry out from low humidity. I was treating one with baytil once and thats a medicine that dries up the sink ALOT she looked so wrinkly and dry but once she woke up and soaked for a bit she was back to normal. So again dont over stress about humidity when he gets back to normal start lightly misting the tank after the lights go off.
I just learned a trick recently on perking up lethargic frogs. Its a homemade pedialyte solution. 500ml distilled water with 1/2 tsp aquarium salt (regular salt has other things added thats bad) and 1 tsp sugar. Boil some water and add a very small amount in a bowl or container that hasn't come into contact with soap or chemicals. Add the sugar and salt and stir with a stir stick or something that hasn't come into contact with soap or chemicals keep mixing until its dissolved remember only a very small amount of boiling water your making a syrup here. Then pour the syrup into your 500ml of distilled water (maybe a splash less than 500 cos you used water to make the syrup) then shake it up so a water bottle is best. You can either mist him directly with it or for best results soak him in it for 10 minutes. It will give him any energy boost. Make a fresh batch everytime as the electrolytes become inactive after a while. I wouldn't try that until next week though. I just recently tried this with one of my frogs and it worked really well. You can do this once everyday until he eats on his own.
Thank you all.
I woke up to this:
I am really shocked he pulled through the night. Last time I saw a red-eye go belly up it died shortly after.
He finally fell asleep last night (I know he's nocturnal, but he had a very long trip so I was glad to see him relax finally), and I decided at that time I would mix a solution of pedialyte and treated warm water 1:10, and drip this on his back. I did this three times last night.
I also left a bowl of small crickets in the enclosure, but neither he nor his tank mate ate anything.
His scratches I saw yesterday are now gone, so I think I may have been just paranoid. Though I did see something, glad it's gone now.
I will continue with the plan of being very quiet, and continue to offer food. Hopefully they eat soon. And daytime temp I have now upped slightly to 79f.
I'll keep you all posted. Thank you!

Oh, and Lynn, I purchased him from LLL reptiles. I would like to say that their customer service is excellent, and don't want to bad mouth anyone.
I'll see if I can find out the breeder, I assumed they were bred in house....

No actually I did not ignore everything you said, I'm sorry you feel that way and do very much appreciate your help!
I didn't read your post until this morning, after I had done what I felt was most helpful in this situation...
I do have the light off in the tank, and love your recipe for the homemade pedialyte. I do feel, however, that it's important to keep him hydrated (so, I will continue to mist and act accordingly), and I do feel it's very important to continue to offer food at night, he is very skinny....
I am very mindful of his stress and not bothering him.
Thanks for your time, and I'm so sorry you feel dismissed, and that it took so long and was laborious to respond. I really do appreciate it!
And would like to add that the crickets are being offered via a glass bowl, so no risk of them biting him.///

Hi Lindsey,
So glad to hear you both had a better day and night!
As you know ............we're here!
Keep re- hydrating ! He'll eat. He's tired
Seeing the crickets move around in the bowl may remind him that he's hungry, too .
