The Smoky Jungle Frog is also known as Leptodactylus pentadactylus. Commonly known as the South American Bullfrog. They can growth to a length of 6-8 inches. They are one of the largest frogs in the Western Hemisphere. Like several species in the genus Leptodactylus, their method of reproduction is quite unique. They are foam nest builders, where the nest is built in burrows on land and the tadpoles develop while feeding on unfertilized eggs. They are closely related to Leptodactylus fallax (Mountain Chicken), which is my avitar on the left.
