    Default Water color?

Hey everyone! I need help, I have a 55 gallon tank that my fire bellies are in. They seem very happy they are all active and eating very well. The tank is set up in a 50/50 set up. My land part has coco fiber placed on top of rocks. The rest of the tank has rocks and water. The coco fiber is separate from the water so it wouldn't erode and make my water horribly dirty. I have a filter in my tank so I don't have to do frequent water changes. But the water went from clear the day I put my frogs in there to now a reddish brown color. You can still see through the water but it doesn't look good. Is this from the coco fiber or are my frogs changing the color? What can I do to fix this?

    is the water this color?

if it is, it is tannins from wood, possibly from the coco fiber. it is safe for your frogs. it's actually called black water. very common in tropical and sub tropical parts of the world. the only way to remove it, is to use some chemical filtration in the tank using either charcoal, or purigen. bio-zorb also works well.
