    Default Hello from CA

Hi there! well, im new of course and i just won these two african dwarf frogs from a local arcade about a week ago and they are awesome! i already did a little bit of research on them and found them to be amazing! aside from my car i think i've found myself the next favorite thing. i mean it couldnt get any better. when im home i have my frogs and when im gone i have my car.
i just got back from a fishing trip before signing up here and took, from the trip, some seaweed and some of the river water. the frogs seems to be a whole lot happier and im hearing some buzzing sounds coming from my little tank. could that be them? i dont know and i hope you guys can help me out with it. thanks and im so happy to have found this forum via google.

    Cool Re: Hello from CA

hello I am new too and my first frogs were african dwarf frogs as well haha! Yes that sound you are hearing they are making it. YOu must have at least one male, they make the noise. He wants a girlfriend haha.
Be careful with the riverwater though. There is bacteria and fungi and stuff in there that can possible infect them. They may be just fine, or they may not. If they show any signs of abnormal behaviour you better look up common frog illnesses and their remedies on frogland right away. One time I used riverwater when I was a newb in my tank and my tads got infected with a fungus. I was lucky to save them using a treatment I found on there, but if you catch it too late the chances are higher that they'll die. The best thing to do is to get some de-chlorinating solution, take some empty watre jugs that have never had soap or anything but water in them, and put some of that in there with the tap water and leave it for a dya or two and then put it in your tank. sorry about misspellings i am REAAAAALLLLY tired right now lol

Welcome to the both of you! I have been keeping clawed frogs for many years and each day I learn something new about them and appreciate them being in my house

I have to agree with Ribbirta about the river water. It is best to keep them in tap water treated with a water conditioner or spring water. You should not use distilled or RO water unless you add the necessary salts and minerals. The call of the male is a humming or quiet buzz.
