Frog care please help!

Adult Bullfrog Care?! Please help!?
I found a bullfrog in my neighborhood with some friends. They started finding others, and we're going to keep them. I thought it would be good to release them, but knowing my friends don't have a hospitable living place for them, I decided to save one.

The tank I have is an old turtle tank, and it's a little over 50 gallons. I have the water where he can go under and it covers it's whole body. I have a small bank where he can sit and be dry, and some vegetation. I don't have a top for the tank, so I'm worried he'll hop out.

I'm going to get some crickets and worms from the store, so I can feed him.

I don't know if the waters too high, or how much I should feed him, or if he needs a bigger place, or even if he is a he or she.

If you could answer..
~How to know what gender it is
~What or where should I keep it
~Does temperature matter
~anything that is important or that could make it happy

And...
~names?

Please give me a thorough answer. I don't want my bullfrog to die.

Also: The tank is covered with pebbles on the bottom.

Hello and welcome to FF! Currently we don't have a care article for the American Bullfrog; but most the info on this one applies: Frog Forum - Leopard Frog Care - Rana pipiens (Schreber, 1782) and R. sphenocephala (1886). Bullfrogs do well in a large tank divided around 25-33% dry and 66-75% wet areas. Adult males can be housed in a 55-75 gallon tank. Adult females are larger and will require 75-100 gallon tanks. You can cover tank with screen tops made for reptiles in all common tank sizes. Bullfrogs will be fine at normal human room temperatures. You have to make sure the pebbles are too large for frog to swallow accidentally, if they are small, please remove them to avoid frog from swallowing them and becoming impacted. Good luck !
