Adding a new frog to the aquarium?
Adding a new frog to the aquarium?
Ive had my two african dwarf frogs, Skip and Finn, for almost a year in a two and a half gallon tank. I want to upgrade their tank to a 5 or 10 gallon and I was thinking of adding in another african dwarf frog and I'd like to know the process of doing that so that everybody is happy. Is that something I can even do? My two frogs have only had each other for a year and I'm not sure how it's going to go if I add in the third frog. Any advice is wonderful! Thanks in advance! - Jessica

Hi thereSome people say you need QT new frogs for a month, but personally I don't. I think if you are buying them for a reputable Mom and Pop shop or a pet store chain you should be fine. If you are moving them into a 5 or 10 gallon, you can add more than just one more just so ya know

Any new animal should be quarantined and have a fecal analysis done. Look at it this way: would you rather treat three frogs or one frog? And do you want to risk the health of your current two frogs?

Thanks everyone. Now, how do I go about doing a fecal analysis? Is that something I purchase and do at home or does the pet store need to do that?

You would need to take it to a herp vet. But since yours are aquatic frogs, that may not be feasible.

Sorry, you would need to take the sample to the vet, not the frog.
