I live in southern costa rica . Digging a new well this year a red eyed leaf frog laid her eggs on the wall of my well. I scraped them onto a leaf and fed them lettuce when they dropped into the pond I had set up. Now they are starting to crawl out , one a day or so, and I have 5 in a plastic storage crate until I get my terrarium built. But soon will have maybe 30 ! My problem is food small enough for them . No pet stores here, no baby crickets to buy or wingless fruit flies to buy. So far, I have been catching wild fruit flies with fruit in a plastic top. I leave it out until I get some, then trap them with the top, and let them go in the frog house at night. Problem is getting very many , and the fly. And are not really nocturnal. I put the top on quickly when I open the container and release them, but I can't really tell if they are being eaten. I found some termites and put them in but not sure if frogs ate them or they are hiding in the potted pepperomia plant I have in there. What about ants? Ever try catching small moths in any quantity ? Can cricket eggs be purchased ? Maybe I could have them maild here????? It's so dry here now. Driest "summer" ever. If I let them all go , most probably won't live. I had hoped to rear them all in captivity, and let all but 4 or 5 go when the rains start in a month, but need food NOW to keep them going !!!!!! Thanks
