i wanted to plant some grass seeds in my pacman frogs enclosure just to add some depth and they are cheap.
is this ok?
I can't speak from experience for pacman frogs, but I have seen other members on this forum growing grass in their tanks. I have some growing in my tiger salamander tank, it sprouted from the moss I put in there. It seems to grow well in vivariums, and I haven't noticed any downsides to it yet.
I haven't used it personally, but I am looking into it. I want to start a vivarium with live plants. The biggest thing is making sure you get seed that has NOT been treated with any chemicals or fertilizers of any sort.
ok thanks. i think it will make an excellent addition to my set up providing it grows well.
Well, if you can't get grass to grow... might have to stick to fake plants, lol. Pacmans do inadvertently dig up plants when they burrow, but grass is hearty enough that it should grow right back.
yeah im sure when its established it will be fine. i dont use lightening in my enclosure so no uva/uvb rays to aid growth.
What a great idea !!!

It depends on the light and whether the frog is nocturnal/diurnal. Nocturnal species will hide from lights and burrow or seek shade from the light. If its too bright they will let you know. The same can be said if the light is too hot. They will try to get away from it. You just have to be careful which lights you choose and how high the wattage is. Especially when it comes to heat bulbs.
If we plant grass seed we are all going to have to buy little mini lawnmowers.
And weed whackers !!!!
Oh boy !![]()

i got the seeds off ebay from a u.k seller (shelled warriors) as i am in the u.k.
i will of course prove photos tonight.
I hope it goes well, as I want some grass in my tanks![]()
well its going pretty good so far. the substrate is ideal really as its damp but not drenched. i also placed the seeds next to my heat mat that runs along the back. will post pictures later.
I had thick grass planted in one of my tanks. It looked pretty good. When it got really long I snipped it with scissors. Its hard to clean and i couldnt get the snippings out. I ended up taking it out. I may have put too many seeds in though.I took a few tufts of sod out for some bare areas. it was cool for a while
Love the little frog eyes on the right, haha :P Good to see its going well!
yeah just like a croc surfacing. The grass is growing well but its quite patchy. I didnt exactly plan where to plant the seeds either just chucked them in and put some eco earth on top.
