Hi everyone, i'm a new member of the forum, and also new to keeping frogsI keep reptiles, so this is my first amphibian.
I am from Australia, and have an Australian Green tree Frog, and was wondering some general care for how to look after him. He is only a few weeks old. I am currently feeding him every 3 days, but some sites say to feed him every day, so now im confused, also how long until he gets big enugh for me to handle him comfortably? :P Any help or advice appreciated![]()
Welcome
How big is your frog? Young frogs are fed everyday. As they get bigger the time between feeding is increased.

I'm taking a shot in the dark that it's a Frog Forum - White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea . Read it once, then read it twice and keep it handy to reference.

Due to the size I would be feeding pinhead crickets everyday.

Looks like more of an American green tree frog to me
Here's a couple of mine
Notice the white lining across the lips. Australian (White's) tree frogs don't have that.
It look like a brown tree frog. The currently have one that is going green quite often. Where did you get them? Pet shop?

it does look more like a brown tree frog come to think of it
Those arent ausralian green tree frogs, which are thicker and stumpier, those are green tree frogs ,hyla cinerea,,I've had these before,a pair for over 6 years, even caught tons of them in Florida...they are awesome pets and really comical and entertaining
As we believe this is a "Southern Brown Tree" please don't over heat it. Like do not like prolonged high temperatures. They are usually do well at room temperature. They don't like to be above 30c.

I bought a heat mat, but haven't used it. He's currently in a 30L aquarium with mostly land and lots of branches. He has a small pool/water bowl an I mist his enclosure twice a day. I don't use any heat. Do I need UVB? Thank you for the help

My understanding is that you only need UVB with them if you are going to have live plants. They do need a day/night cycle but normal house lighting can provide the cycle.
Think of Victorian weather where they occur in the wild.

Neither the frogs, nor live plants require UVB lighting. Unlike reptiles, Frogs don't rely on UVB to produce calcium, that's why we supplement with dusting their food. Plants rely more on color spectrum and light intensity than ultraviolet lighting and can be grown without it very efficiently.
