Do spot cleaning with frog in enclosure. Obviously, I pay attention where my hand is in relation to the frog's mouth.
For monthly substrate replacement, I use a small or medium ExoTerra breeding box and coax the frog in. Then it gets top closed and set aside until done. Afterwards, I place box back in cage and frog goes out. Don't even have to handle them, so frogs rarely stress out.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
same my spot cleaning is done with him in the little enclosure, when i need to do the changing of the substrate I put him in a small tupperware and put that down in the large tank. Later when I move him to the larger tank, will switch it up, when I go to clean out the large tank, just pop him into the small one with wet papertowels, cover it over with a towel and put it near the regulated heat source with the therm controller probe inside of it to hold the temps. And have everything ready to go back into the tank as soon as I am done cleaning it, bowl, plant and the substrate all soaking before I clean out the old substrate. takes me maybe idk 10 min tops to get it all cleaned out, wiped, sprayed, rinsed and redone, I have it all lined up and ready to go.
I soak my frogs once a week. I think the stress comes from being moved, and in addition, if the water temps aren't right. I have noticed with my weekly soaks that the frogs will stress if the temps are too hot/cold. I have placed them in temps ranging from 78-84 degrees and I have found that placing them in water with temps in the 80-82 range greatly reduced the amount of stress on the frog. Covering the soaking tub reduces stress as well. Weekly soakings may not be necessary, but I like to do it to rinse off any old skin and dirt - especially if I want to take pictures.
I've tried to soak my frog once since I've gotten it (only about a month). He absolutely hated it. I'll probably never take him out for a soak again unless I'm worried about impaction or something. I found when he wants in his water, he'll just hop in it.
As far as cleaning, I do exactly what Carlos does. I just coax him into a small critter keeper. I try never to handle him or cause unnecessary stress to the guy. Hes a pretty antisocial guy and doesn't really like my hands being around him. I try to avoid touching him or picking him up at all costs.
