I used to put peat moss in my Greys' tank for a little while but I switched to forest moss & sphagnum moss after I noticed that it was sticking to the frogs when they would climb down to the floor of their home. I was afraid it was going to give them a splinter or get into their eyes. They did not seem to like it being stuck to their bellies and sides and would try to brush it off with their rear feet. Now that I have switched to dried forest moss they seem happier. They can bury themselves and not come up covered with wood pieces and if they do have a piece of moss stuck to them they don't even seem to notice it there. The sphagnum and forest moss is washable too so it last a little longer. I fond that the nursery sells sphagnum moss in larger quantities than the pet store does and it is the exact same moss. If you have the time to go to the local nursery try and check it out. I think you and your pets will be happier with that choice. The peat moss should be ok until then though.
