getting ready for tadpoles, water question

last year when i grew tadpoles i used water from the pond they came from. the big problem i had was i had to change filters quite often because of all the **** from the pond, plus the waste from the tadpoles. should i just set up the tank like i would for fish or would they do better with water from their home pond?

eta: my setup this year is a 10 gallon tank with gravel, a heater, 100gph filter (i need to make a shroud for the intake so the little guys don't get sucked up), and an air pump hooked up to a 5" air stone.

If you use a bare glass bottom, it's simple to transfer water from pond with tadpoles. Then vacuum bottom out, while replacing 25% of the tanks volume with dechlorinated same temperature/pH tap water the first 7 days. That will get most of the dirt from the pond. When changing the water, you can also clean the filter pads with tank water to keep them from clogging. Good luck !
